Wael is a Director, Mining & Metals Consulting at Wood Mackenzie, based out of Dubai. Wael specializes in government advisory and, in his current capacity, has supported several governments across Central Asia, the Middle East and Africa in defining national-level mining & metals strategies to foster investment attractiveness, including: value-chain mapping & opportunities prioritization, fiscal regime modelling & optimization, value-addition & socio-economic impact assessment, institutional governance benchmarking & reform. 

Wael started his career in Equity Research (Industrial Minerals & Precious Metals) with GMP Securities in London, where he conducted multiple due diligences & financial valuations across Europe, the Middle East & Africa, Subsequently, he has spent a few years in Management Consulting (Energy, Utilities & Mining) with Booz & Company in Dubai, where he advised top-tier organizations on a range of topics including corporate / national strategy, organizational / operational performance improvement, mergers & acquisitions. Prior to joining Wood Mackenzie, Wael has spent a few years in Process Improvement Consulting (Infrastructure, Energy & Materials) with Dassault Systemes in Dubai, where he focused on developing and implementing digital transformation strategies across top-tier organizations globally.

Wael holds a Masters in Metals & Energy Finance from Imperial College London, and a Bachelor in Mining Engineering from McGill University. He speaks French, Arabic, Spanish as well as English.
