Wael Jaber

Wael is a Director, Mining & Metals Consulting at Wood Mackenzie, based out of Dubai. He brings over 15 years cross-functional experience in the mining & metals industry globally, across commodities, during which he has had the opportunity to advise senior industry leaders in defining future-facing strategies. 

Wael specializes in government advisory and, in his current capacity, has supported several governments across Central Asia, the Middle East and Africa in defining national-level mining & metals strategies to foster investment attractiveness, including: value-chain mapping & opportunities prioritization, fiscal regime modelling & optimization, value-addition & socio-economic impact assessment, institutional governance benchmarking & reform. 

Wael started his career in Equity Research (Industrial Minerals & Precious Metals) with GMP Securities in London, where he conducted multiple due diligences & financial valuations across Europe, the Middle East & Africa, Subsequently, he has spent a few years in Management Consulting (Energy, Utilities & Mining) with Booz & Company in Dubai, where he advised top-tier organizations on a range of topics including corporate / national strategy, organizational / operational performance improvement, mergers & acquisitions. Prior to joining Wood Mackenzie, Wael has spent a few years in Process Improvement Consulting (Infrastructure, Energy & Materials) with Dassault Systemes in Dubai, where he focused on developing and implementing digital transformation strategies across top-tier organizations globally.

Wael holds a Masters in Metals & Energy Finance from Imperial College London, and a Bachelor in Mining Engineering from McGill University. He speaks French, Arabic, Spanish as well as English.
