  • Senior Mining Specialist at the World Bank

Francisco is working as Geosciences Advisor/ consultant for the World Bank and he has been working for mining/ exploration firms and international organisations, including Uzbekistan (Copper Cluster-Almalik) and engagements in Kazakhstan.

Prior to this, Francisco was Mining Specialist at World Bank in charge of mining sector lending in DRC, Nigeria, and has 35 years of technical, managerial and executive experience in mining & exploration/ geosciences. He worked for D&M environmental engineering consultants, Spain’s Geological Survey (IGME) and South African Geoscience (CGS), working in exploration for two firms and worked as Chief Engineering for U.N., (DRC, Eritrea, Sudan, Senegal), U.N. HQ as Manager and become Director of the Geospatial Information Centre (Italy).

He has undertaken exploration projects and technical assignments in Europe, Africa, South. & North. America and Central Asia, including various geological settings and mineral commodities using geophysical methods, geochemical, mapping and remote sensing technologies. Francisco has been lecturing at the Polytechnic Univ. of Madrid (UPM).

Francisco holds an MSc in Geology, Geophysics Univ. Barcelona (Spain), a Dipl. MSc in Engineering Geology (The Netherlands), an MPhil/PhD Geo-Information & remote sensing (Cranfield Univ. UK), in addition he holds an MBA Int´l Exec. ESCP Business School.
